Humming noise when reaching 60++ kph
Hi all! This is my first post sa LOOP...
Just wanted to know kung normal nga ba 'to o hindi...

I notice that sound too when i use my stock mags and tires, nung naka size16" and 18" mags ako wala naman, i guess normal sound yun ng stock tires.

Yung test unit nila raw is under 30K mileage... suggest ko sanang i-drive yung test unit nila. May dilemma right now is what to do next? The sound is annoying me and I need to do something about it? Any suggestion guys?

Tires is one thing but another cause could be your front bearings. Have it checked asap and replaced under warranty if needed.

i concur with chairman. pa check mo din bearings mo. i also read somewhere na ideal mag palit ng gulong 2 years or 20K km. dahil din to sa lumulutong or tumitigas ang goma after thousands of kilometers of use. saka hindi lang sa lipis ng tread pwede humugong ang gulong kungdi na din sa tigas ng sidewall. sa lipis naman ng tread, you can use what they call the 5 peso coin test. pag pinasok mo yung 5 peso coin sa grooves ng goma and kitang kita na yung mga wave design sa gilid ng coin, kailangan na magpalit ng gulong.

I agree that bearings could be going bad. This may be the best bet. Usually bad bearings make the humming sound at highway speeds. And it increases overtime as the bearings accumulate heat, and as the car is speed goes up. Please have it checked the soonest time sir before it totally fails.
Another factors we may consider:
- Since you mentioned you have not used GL for 2 months, you're tire may have flat spots due to prolonged standing on one side. From experience on my old car, this makes humming sounds at highway speeds, but eventually after a few days of use, it went away.
- Tire wear is another factor. My GL's OEM Bridgestone B250 became noticeably noisy after 2 years (20k+ km, and mine is now at 39k+ kms). Looking forward changing tires anytime soon this year. Note that tires, even with still good thread dept, can become hard and brittle overtime due to damaging weather factors (UV rays from sun + rain).
-Also check that your tire pressure is set to the correct pressure. 35psi front 35psi rear is said to be the standard for our GL as per the specifications on the stickers located at the driver side door jamb. I set mine to 35psi front, 40psi rear to give more flexibility on load capacity.
- Wheel balancing: if you have installed new tires and technician may have balanced it poorly.
- Wheel alignment: Usually done once every year. Can make wobbly and humming sounds.
- CV inner and outer joints: Sometimes it gets torn, and oil dries out. From experience from my old car, makes loud clicking sound when turning. Occasionally humming sound when speeding. Replace immediately if CV is torn.
- The less likely factor is a loose wheel lug nuts. Ensure they are seated at proper torque specified by nissan. Have casa check it as well.
Hope this helps.

like they have suggested pwedeng bearing nga, i remember dun sa lumang lancer namin ang ingay nga pag lagpas ng mga 40kms. pero parang ang bilis naman kung yun nga ang cause ng ugong considering na less than 3yrs pa lang yung unit.

parang same observation with sir chualie above.. nung nagpalit ako back to 15s stock rims, dun ko lang narinig yun humming sound.
Tire thread is not the issue kse makapal yun tires (di ba si marckd hihihi).

2 weeks ago i had my Livi serviced at Nissan West Gate in Alabang. The engine support and stabilizer were replaced, had a tune up. Details are on the 65K pms thread.
The humming sound on my Livi was diagnosed as a worn front wheel bearings right side. Recommendations are to replace both front wheel bearings left and right para balance.
Ipon ipon muna ako, 16k for the parts, then 2k for the labor kasi.
