Re: suggestion for the brand of tyre for our GL
Hi,
I changed our GL tire last 2012. I got Yokohama Aspec A300 for 4k each and upsized 195/65 r15 (from 185/65 r15) . Its a very comfortable and with very minimal to no noise tire. Traction is good both on dry and wet pavements. I'd say, makunat itong tires na ito, nakaka tatlong turnilyo na nababaon at akala ko tumagos, tuwing ipapa vulcanize ko sana eh pag hugot sa turnilyo eh baluktot ang turnilyo, hindi pala lumusot.
Its a soft tire and not for spirited driving but for a family car. Anyway, kahit anong tires mapili mo sir basta make sure it is freshly made on the year you will by it, check the side wall usually will look like this (example lang) after the "DOT" markings is YYY1114 the last four digit means 11th week of 2014. It is said that the rubber will get "malutong" as it ages, usually after 4 years.
I was opting for Michellin XM2 205/60 R15 H sana, been reading good reviews about it, but the price was a little bit beyond my budget since I needed 4 new tires.
Also, if possible do not get S and T speed rated tires (meron pa ba nito?). At least an H or better yet a V speed rated if budget permits. An H is a standard for passenger cars nowadays. V for sports cars. Z for super cars. And load index not below 88 value. Basta should be not below the OEM installed tires.
hope it helps

Re: suggestion for the brand of tyre for our GL
Tama po si sir Bin Diesel. Meron difference pero very minimal lang. As for fuel consumption, I have not observed any difference from stock at all. My inflation for 195/65 r15 are as follows: front: 35 psi, back: 37 psi.
Stock Tires:
185/65 r15 at 100kph in speedometer, actual speed is 100kph
Upsized tires same rim diameter of 15 inches:
195/65 r15 at 100kph in speedometer, actual speed is 102.09 kph (my current tire size now)
205/60 r15 at 100 kph in speedometer, actual speed is 100.88 kph
205/55 r15 at 100 kph in speedometer, actual speed is 97.59 kph
Got it from an online tire calculator:

Re: suggestion for the brand of tyre for our GL
By the way if you might ask, the reason for me to upsize to 195/65 r15 is the advantage of increased quarter of an inch (.26 inches) in ride height, and theoretically with a bit wider footprint from 185 to 195, a little bit increase in traction. Very minimal in figures if you look at it though.

Re: suggestion for the brand of tyre for our GL
ok sir.. I will try 195 din as the same reasons as mentioned by you ., Medyo may kababaan din kasi ang GL natin.. last friday pala I drop by at Yokohama in makati and they offered me the earth serries tyres nila, equivalent daw Ito ng Michelin mx2.. price list is 4.6 k less 15% discount.. made in Philippines daw ang tyre nila, hope quality is better than other neighbor country .

Oh yes, mas maganda kung made in the philippines sir. Kasi ang rubber is tropicalized. Kapag made in japan possible na mabilis lumutong rubber since nung minold sya sa mas malamig na lugar. Iba ang init ng panahaon dito sa atin.

Re: suggestion for the brand of tyre for our GL
just change my tyre with xm2 Michelin , 185/65/R15... inflated at 34 & 38 psi front /rear.. no comment on performance yet except that I noticed that it's a little bit taller and wider than sa stock tyre ng GL with same specs when I compare it side by side..
