Shell FuelSave Unleaded

Shell has replaced or probably just rebranded their regular unleaded gasoline from Super Unleaded to FuelSave Unleaded. They claim that this 'new' gasoline will save us motorists around 1 litre of gas for very full tank due to to the addition of its Shell Efficiency Improver to the gas mixture. I have personally tried this and the burn is very good. However I haven't realized yet any fuel saving advantage/benefit compared to other gasoline brands I use.

MANILA, Philippines—Want to get more kilometers out of your liter?

Pilipinas Shell recently launched its Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel, which promises to help drivers save up to one liter per tank, at the same price as standard fuels.

“In these cost-conscious times, it’s not surprising that our customers want to save fuel and cut driving costs, “ said Pilipinas Shell General Manager for Retail Bong Fadullon. “In a recent study, 96% of Filipino drivers said they want to drive more efficiently. We listened and, as a result, are proud to offer Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel. These fuels can help drivers save from the very first fill,” he claimed.

The FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel will replace Shell Super Unleaded and Shell Diesoline Ultra, and will become Shell’s most advanced fuel economy products in the Philippines. The market promise is to help drivers be more fuel efficient when driving, said Arlene Manalo, Pilipinas Shell retail marketing manager.

The new formula was specially designed by scientists to improve fuel efficiency from the first tank fill, said Shell Senior Scientist John Lambert.

Lambert said that they developed the formula through hundreds of hours of laboratory testing, engine testing and rolling road testing.

The Shell FuelSave Unleaded reduces friction and energy loses by lubricating parts of the engine where oils are less effective. The Shell FuelSave Diesel was designed to ignite and burn more effectively than regular diesel, said Lambert.

“It is designed to keep inlet valves clean. A clean engine is an efficient engine,” Lambert said.

“I had no idea that by using the right fuel and making a few simple changes to my driving habits, I could be so much more fuel efficient, “ said Shell FuelSave ambassador Ryan Agoncillo.

Agoncillo, who tested FuelSave, and underwent fuel economy training in Sepan, Malaysia, said he is working with Shell to help drivers all over the Philippines learn how to save fuel and money .

The Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel will be available in Luzon on July 15, said Manalo.

hmm, for me it's just another marketing scheme... like you've said baka product "rebranding" lang yan. personally, hindi ako gumagamit ng shell gas kahit sa previous car namin. observation ko is aside sa mas malakas ako sa gas, magaspang ang takbo ng auto. either caltex or petron lang ako with 95+ octane rating. sayang nga at lahat eh me halo na ng ethanol, sobra naman mahal ng petron 100 octane.

Just used this in a week's time and found the acceleration to be better than expected. Your observation with Shell is correct as with fuel consumption fairing less as against Petron. I tried it out of curiosity since mahal na masyado ang gasoline ngayon (lalo na yung 100 octane fuel ng Petron). The new offering from Shell might be different. However I will post my consumption once I top up again next week. I am averaging around 9-10 km per liter city driving with a mix of bumper to bumper traffic during rush hours. This is even better than my old B13 sentra which was averaging 6-8 km/liter in city driving.
