i need your advise humming noise defective bearing
good day fellow livina owners. i need your advise regarding our rides front bearings. my livina is 3.5 years old with a mileage of 75k.
about 5 days ago i noticed a humming sound coming from the front. I thought that it came from the two motorcycles in front of me. but after i passed those motorcycles the sound was still there. It sounds like a fast motorcycle/tricycle or the sound of a single prop airplane. So today i went to the dealer, after two road test they concluded that the front bearings need to be replaced. so i asked how much would the repair cost. the advisor said labor around 2k for both and ask the parts dept for the replacement parts. so i thought remove old bearings press new ones then okay. here comes the parts guy and tells me that the bearings come in an assembly which includes the hub and the price is 8100 each. i need to replace two so that's 16200 plus 2000 or 18200 total. i not yet sure what to do next. some advise please, ty.

Just had a word with my friend who is a nissan specialist and he informed me that the bearing is indeed part of the hub assembly and there is no bearing that can be removed. Given your situation I think the best option is to find an alternative source to get the part you need such as banawe so you can save money.
This is the picture of the part we are talking about...

Thanks for the reply Lydemer. I called nisway and this part they say is not readily available, it has to be ordered from the plant. Bong of nisway asked around i assume among his contacts and was able to find 1 pc., but since i need two, i did not proceed with the purchase. The price is the same as that of the casa's.
So i called the dealer to order the part through them. They called back to inform me that the part is out of stock in the local plant and has to be ordered from the main plant overseas. And it will take 3weeks to a month to arrive. The wait starts, and no car for a month. i'm afraid if i still use my livina some other part might break next. Can i still use it or take the jeep? i travel around 50kms 3x a week.

If your vehicle has a front bearing problem, it is ill advised to run the vehicle for prolonged periods especially during the rainy seasons wherein floods are common. The bearing could overheat and seize all of a sudden which could potentially cause a dangerous outcome and a very expensive repair bill. In my humble opinion take the jeep instead.

Mga Sirs, I know bearings are wear and tear parts but what can cause premature wearing of this part? And what are the good driving practice or maintenance works we can do to prolong the life of this part? Ang mahal pala kasi nito... tsk tsk tsk

The best thing is to avoid driving through flooded areas that can penetrate the bearings and cause it to prematurely break. Another is not to put excessive loads to the vehicle which can contribute to bearings breaking up.
